Giving Tuesday: a new tradition.
We’re all familiar with Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but did you know that the Tuesday after Thanksgiving is an even more special day, with a generous twist? It’s called Giving Tuesday, and it’s the perfect antidote to the hectic consumerism that can take over this time of year.
I love this holiday. I love how it bookends the Thanksgiving holiday period and lets us start with reflection and gratitude on Thursday and allows us to end with action and giving on Tuesday. It brings us back to what matters.
Over the years, g has donated gPants and cloth inserts to various orphanages around the world. Some have been lucky opportunities to give in person, like when I was traveling in Nepal and visited a government-run facility in Kathmandu, or when Andi from our finance team took product with her to Rwanda on a church-organized trip in 2010. Others have been through fantastic gMums who have affiliation with orphanages like Manda Gillepsie (The Green Mama) who stocked up an orphanage in Guatemala with gTweet a few years back. Or Natasha in Thailand who received some Girls Rock gPants through the Acorn Overseas Charity earlier this year. And now, our latest request from gMum alum Jennifer Lane who wrote to us about her recent trip to Ethiopia: “…standing in that orphanage, I immediately thought of how gDiapers could benefit these babies…”
At gHQ, we are packaging up some gPants to send to both Jennifer’s group in Ethiopia and to Natasha in Thailand. In the spirit of Giving Tuesday, we wanted to open it up to all of our fabulous gPeeps around the world and give you the chance to donate any pre-loved gPants or cloth inserts (or any brand of cloth diapers or nappies).
