Meet Jan, gMum in full color.
We’re big big BIG fans of social media. It’s amazing to us how it brings people together who may otherwise have never met. But also, it unveils a world of inspiration through the photos and stories that are shared by you. Jan Scurfield, owner of Sacred Images Photography, posted this beautiful photo the other day on the gDiapers facebook page, and the oohs and ahhs just naturally came pouring out. So we invited her to share her talent here. Check out the color.
Wow! 7 babies! How did come to be that 7 babies in your playgroup have on gDiapers?
“I was so lucky that I was surrounded by friends who were pregnant at the same time, as well as meeting new friends during childbirth classes, so that we had a group of 8-10 women with babies within 1 year of each other. When prepping for the shoot, I wanted almost naked babies, and I love the color options of the gDiapers. One other mother in this shoot is also a gDiapers user, so she had her own, and the other babies used my gDiapers with all different colors!”
Were you a photographer before becoming a mom? If so, what’s changed about your photography? If not, what compelled you to grab the camera and get to snapping?
“For the past 4 years I have been a part-time photographer with my business, Sacred Images, as well as managing the office for my husband’s solar business. Having my daughter Ella, who is now almost 9 months old, has required me to take a step back from my previous work schedule and learn to balance it to meet her needs. I have worked hard to be able to be a “stay at home working mom”, and I feel like I get the best of both worlds! I do think my interests in what I shoot have changed as well with having a child – my circle of pregnant women and families with babies has definitely grown, and I love the opportunity to document such significant moments.”
Why gDiapers? Why are you using them, for one? But also, why did you want to photograph them?
“When planning for our daughter, it never crossed my mind that we wouldn’t use cloth diapers. My husband and I have a strong eco-minded lifestyle, and the idea of plastic disposable diapers was not an option for us. I did a lot of research on cloth diapers, since today there are so many great options, and gDiapers kept coming up with great feedback. Another good friend was also using gDiapers, so I was able to get feedback from someone actually using them, both what worked and what didn’t for her son.
After visiting your website, watching the instructional videos, and getting personal feedback, I knew that gDiapers were the best option for us. They are so easy to use, and I love that you can take off the nylon pouch from the outside fabric.
I knew as soon as I was going to have this baby shoot that I wanted to have all the babies in gDiapers. The colors are bold, and my collection allowed for a rainbow of colors. It also made me proud to showcase such a fantastic eco-friendly product. As a Premier member of the Greener Photography Organization, I have made a commitment in my business to supporting sustainable products. What a great opportunity to let gDiapers know what a huge fan I am of your product!”
