Thank you again to Alicia, from Naps Happen, for her parenting commentary. We love her like we love Fridays. And cheesecake. And running barefoot.
Enrichment.
Delighted squeals echo across the common area behind my townhouse. I step out onto the deck and watch five children streak by carrying sticks. They seem to be involved in a mysterious construction project involving a pile of rocks, a ton of pine cones, and a bucket of water. The project is simultaneously exciting and deadly serious. The children work in happy cooperation to construct what is sure, upon completion, to be something we parents must dismantle later.

A local mama posted a link to her blog post on our facebook page. We thought it too good not to share. Here’s the whole gosh darn beautifulness that she wrote. Love it, too? Hop over to her blog and let her know.
What I learnt from my husband since he became a dad
Nearly a year ago now, both my husband and I became parents. Because I am the one who was pregnant, and delivered this beautiful, oh so beautiful baby, for a “few” months I focused on myself, recovering from this unique experience. Little by little, I opened my eyes again on the world around me, discovering people in the street, life outside my baby, friends, family, and yes husband. I feel very lucky to have him by my side. He truly is the perfect mix between Superman, Romeo, Buddha, and a teddy bear. Possibly the Incredibles dad from Pixar?
My point is that for a long time I was focused on all the things he could do like me, instead of figuring it out by himself. I was really trying to make him be a mum. Which is biologically impossible and quite frankly a waste of time.

Diapers bringing people together face to face? Sure thing. In fact, we see it all the time. But we never dreamed that would happen. Just really really glad it did. Today’s story brought to you by Resha.
The story behind this picture is that our 2 1/2 year old, Leethan, potty trained about 2 months ago so, the huge stash is now his 6 month old baby brother, Trenton’s. gDiapers have meant a lot to me since my first pregnancy. When I was pregnant with Leethan, I was searching for a plastic free alternative to diapers, but didn’t really want to do cloth. That is when a friend told me about g’s. I went crazy for them! I bought quite a few before Leethan was born and my addiction began! The more I started visiting the gDiapers facebook page, the more people I met that also had the same passion for such a wonderful product.

gMum Lisa shared with us some photos of a one-of-a-kind party she threw for her kiddos. We had to know more. She gladly obliged. Thank you, Lisa. Now we’re super curious: how do you celebrate milestones? And what the heck is a milestone, anyway? Let us know in a comment.
Ok, about the potty party… I guess i should start back in March of 2011. My daughter Merry was 4 (soon to be 5), Hezekiah turned 3 on March 12, David was 19 months old, and Gideon was born (2 weeks late!) on March 16. With Gideon’s birth we had 3 in full time diapers! I had hoped to have Hezekiah potty trained before then but he was no where near ready!! David was showing more readiness for potty training than his big brother!

A couple of years ago, 3 to be exact, we received this email:
“I have many pictures of my child in Gs, but this one was so classic I mailed it to the only address I could find for you guys – I figure you can pass it on if you find it as funny as I did.
Perhaps Gs have a soporific effect?
Best Wishes.
Alicia”

Today we asked this on our facebook page:
As a parent, we are given a set of choices for a variety of situations and circumstances. What situations and circumstances have you faced where the choices at hand just didn’t seem enough and you opted for something different? When have gone against the grain?
And there were so many great stories that parents shared. Diana shared hers, originally posted on her blog, and gave permission for us to share here. Why would we want to do this? We believe in people. People who do what they do because they see a better alternative and act on it. Whether it be choosing a diaper or something much much bigger. Something that may go against the grain and buck the status quo. Because sometimes g stands for going with your gut.
