The words “Be Kind,” “Don’t Fight” and “Love Big” were words that appeared on a series of t-shirts my now 11-year old son lived in when he was 5. It struck me then as it does now that these simple statements are so powerful. If we went out into the world everyday with this in mind, the world would be a very different place. It was my son's t-shirt that inspired us to create our “Be Kind” pant and remind ourselves of this simple gesture.

The last time we checked in with our sea-faring family: Jess, James and Rocket, they were sky-bound and headed home to the UK to visit family. Efforts were made to connect this inaugural On Location family with the gNappies crew in London, but a jam-packed schedule filled with family and friends combined with a flurry of winter storms indicated that a gNappies visit would have to be part of a future trip. Jess, James and Rocket are getting ready to set sail and hit the open waters of the Pacific. They’ll leave mid-March and will travel for about a month from Banderas Bay in Mexico to the Marquesas in French Polynesia, roughly 2,700 miles. “It’s all really exciting – this is the BIG one – the biggest, deepest ocean that all sailors dream of,” says Jess. We’ll be following along as they post their adventurous route on
their website.

At gDiapers we’ve always believed that small acts can add up to big change. Over the past four years, the Big Latch On has shown how a grassroots, community-based event can get global fast. A Big Latch On event is simple—a group of women come together at a registered location to ‘latch on’ (breastfeed) their babies at a set time and raise their hands to be counted. Friends are made, fun is had, and every year breastfeeding records are broken. It’s fun and simple, but powerful.

Launching the Love Me g Collection and connecting with Hands to Hearts International has got us digging into what love means to us. Oh, those 6,000 chocolate hearts we saw at the grocery store yesterday might have been a part of it too… Here’s Kim and Jason talking love in our office yesterday:

Brian and Elsa are soon-to-be first-time parents who hail from the Instagram-worthy state of Maine. As the days tick up to their due date, waiting has taken a front row seat by the woodstove in their 800-square foot cabin. “While we may be mediocre at preparation, at least we’ve got anticipation down.” The anticipation has looked a bit like this:

With a bold stamp of Loved, the new Love Me gPants and tees artfully declare the critical desire of our hearts. From the moment we are born we all want, and need, to be loved. But for families battling hunger, poverty and disease, it can be a struggle to provide that need, which hinders babies’ ability to thrive. A portion of each sale of the specially-designed Love Me gPants and tee will benefit Hands to Hearts International, an organization recognized by the Fetzer Institute as an “an exemplar of love”.  Hands to Hearts International is improving the health and development of vulnerable children by training caregivers in early childhood development and nurturing parenting skills. It is through their efforts that love is flourishing in the world’s most volatile regions, and babies who once were at risk, are now thriving.
