It started in Portland. A playdate for local parents and babies at gHQ. Then you jumped in and said “We want that, too!” And we replied with “Totally. Let’s do this.” And so you worked together to create meet-ups in your neck of the woods, all of them under the simple name of “gTea”. You took the initiative to get to know your community off of facebook and into a park. You gathered your friends, your family, and people you had never even met and you put together gTeas in places like Illinois, Alaska, London, Texas, Michigan, Virginia, Washington, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Ohio, California, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, Iowa, Idaho, North Dakota and Alberta, Canada.

You can’t control the waves of the ocean, but you can certainly learn to ride them. Few experiences ever turn out exactly as you plan them, a lesson Jess and James have learned early. From Rocket making her debut ahead of schedule while in port in Mexico, to a quick trip to Mexico City to secure vital travel documents for a brand new baby, to hopping a flight to Canada to introduce her to family, it has been one wave after the next. Which, of course, is what waves do. They just keep coming.

Leadville, Colorado has an alpine subarctic climate with cold winters, mild summers and minimal rainfall. It’s where educators Carrie, Cooper and their daughter, Hattie call home. Carrie, Cooper and Hattie will be welcoming a new addition to their family later this fall. They’re prepping their home and nurturing their gardens with home-grown compost that includes Hattie’s wet-only disposable inserts. They’ve kindly welcomed us in for a peek of their day-to-day in a continuation of our blog series: gDiapers On Location.

Jess and James recently welcomed their new baby girl, Rocket, into their adventurous life. They traveled to Mexico on their boat and had Rocket at a birth center in Guadalajara. Now they’re gearing up for a quick trip to visit family in Canada, which means little miss Rocket needs her first passport.
Jess has been filling us in with the itty bitty details of life with a new baby: little obstacles, little milestones and a whole lot of change.

I have been pregnant 7 times. I’m blessed, I have two amazing little boys, a wonderful stepson and an amazing husband, but I also know the pain of loss, I know it really well.
