gDiapers and the FTC Green Guides

January 17, 2014

In the spirit of fair dinkum that is core to who we are, I wanted to share with you more information about the FTC review of our claims and advertising. Following the FTC update of the Green Guides in September 2012, we have co-operated with the FTC for over a year to refine and further support our benefits, and made the necessary changes to our website and packaging last year. Rest assured that our product and core benefits are unchanged – our disposable inserts are Cradle to Cradle Certified (cm) Silver, flushable, and home compostable (wet ones only). In fact, as part of this process we have done additional testing requested by the FTC that further supports these benefits. To learn more about gDiapers and the FTC Green Guides, please read below.

On location with Jess and James: a change of season.

December 12, 2013

Jess and James have been rolling along happily, riding the gentle waves in a Mexican marina with their baby girl, Rocket. In our last post, Jess walked us through her innovative wash routine involving buckets and elbow grease, because even though space and fresh water is limited when you live on a boat, Jess and James see no reason that they can’t parent – and diaper – in the way that best suits their lifestyle.

On Location with Carrie and Cooper: new baby!

December 6, 2013

Carrie, Cooper and big sister, Hattie, have recently welcomed a brand new adventurer to the family! Baby Hobbes arrived fashionably early, a week ahead of schedule. Just as Cooper was readying to set out with a friend for the inaugural day of hunting season, Carrie’s water broke. It was game on, (just not the game that Cooper had intended for the day!).

Hobbes’ brand new bum has been comfortably covered with the newborn gPants since day one. And though it’s too cold now to compost, the disposable inserts are flushable, which means with 6-8 changes a day (or a package a week), the garbage can isn’t overflowing.

On location with Jess and James: cloth diapers and a human washing machine.

November 21, 2013

Growing up comes with a new adventure everyday, and our little friend Rocket is growing up before our very eyes. She is now out of the newborn gPants and into size small, which means she can start using the cloth inserts, too. So now there’s the big question: how does one use cloth diapers on a baby on a boat? I’m just gonna step back and let Jess do the talking. She’s got this cloth diaper thing dialed.

No need to hold your breath and pray for a change of subject, we’ve got this one covered. Mimi, our Director of gPants Design and Development, gives a little insight into the creation of our gPants. It’s not quite as complex as the birds and the bees, but it is about life.

On location with Carrie and Cooper: Nesting.

On location with Carrie and Cooper: Nesting.

October 25, 2013

Carrie and Cooper, our friends at high elevation, are heading in to the home-stretch. Baby #2 is coming very soon. And with cooling temperatures and the onset of snow, this Leadville family has headed indoors to prepare for baby’s arrival. Nesting is underway.

“The Leadville summer ended with a couple of good snow storms and chilly temperatures, meaning much of the garden crop was pulled by Hattie (with some help) and processed into baby food that is now frozen and awaiting the day the little man wants to try some solids. Beets, carrots, and spinach mostly … plus we arranged to get two boxes of 2nds apples that were turned into about 15 quarts of applesauce in one epic day of canning activities. Hattie is actually still working on last year’s batch, but figuring we’ll need all the extra we can get with an extra mouth in the house starting in six months or so. Many of Hattie’s gDiaper disposable inserts (wet ones only) helped to create the nutrients absorbed by the veggies that now constitute what will be some of little brother’s first bites of solid food.”
