It was only a few short months ago that we checked in with our friends in Maine, Brian and Elsa, for the first time. They were preparing to become parents for the first time! And then there he was. Otis emerged a bit earlier than expected, but he was healthy and oh-so-welcome to the world. Otis’ dad, Brian, took the time to kindly catch us up on life with a new baby.
Today we welcome guest blogger (and definitive expert on all things nap-related), Alicia Steffann, of the popular blog, Naps Happen.
Long before I ever even considered writing a blog, I was agonizing over what type of diapers to use. With my first son on the way, I wanted to make a diapering choice that would be kinder to the environment. When I discovered gDiapers, I was excited to try them but, at the time, I didn’t have any friends who had gDiapered their babies.
I was a little nervous, but I did it, anyway.
It’s easy to throw up our hands in the face of plastic-filled gyres and contaminated fish, but we’re not the types to be intimidated. Our current plastics situation is in many ways the by-product of “convenience” products that have only been in our lives for a generation.
Carrie and Cooper are 5 months in to life as a family of 4. And like speeding down a groomed slope only to come upon a long stretch of moguls, it’s all about being flexible and taking those bumps in stride. One such bump came with the shift from being an at-home mama, to Carrie going back to work teaching outside the home.
At gDiapers we’ve always believed that small acts can add up to big change. Over the past four years, the Big Latch On has shown how a grassroots, community-based event can get global fast. A Big Latch On event is simple—a group of women come together at a registered location to ‘latch on’ (breastfeed) their babies at a set time and raise their hands to be counted. Friends are made, fun is had, and every year breastfeeding records are broken. It’s fun and simple, but powerful.
Launching the Love Me g Collection and connecting with Hands to Hearts International has got us digging into what love means to us. Oh, those 6,000 chocolate hearts we saw at the grocery store yesterday might have been a part of it too… Here’s Kim and Jason talking love in our office yesterday:
