Blessed be the interwebs. It is because of them that we are able to connect with so many crafty, witty and inspiring folk like Kim Bongiorno of Let Me Start By Saying. We shared one of Kim’s hilarious lists on the gDiapers facebook page the other day and poof, just like that, we found a new friend in Kim. Thank you to Kim for taking time out of her day to pop over and visit us on our blog. We hope it’s the first of many visits.
Unqualified
I was vacuuming today, sweating and annoyed while doing so, and it got me to thinking: how the heck have I managed to hold down my job of being a Stay-At-Home-Mom for so long? I’m terrible at it!
Most days I feel like I got this job by accident. By lying on my resumé or accidentally getting promoted into the wrong department. Sheer pride insisted I try not to get caught doing something I’m totally unqualified to do, and seems to be the main motivator in keeping me from admitting the clerical error.

Thank you to Anni Daulter, author of Sacred Pregnancy the Book + Magazine, for giving the words and the long overdue air time to the most significant transformation that we go through as women.
What is a Sacred Pregnancy and why should I want one?
When I was pregnant with my second child, Lotus, I became obsessed with trying to find women I could connect with that knew about the sacredness of birth and the rite of passage process that every mother goes through, but few mark. My pregnancy craving was for that sisterhood that used to exist back in the day when women lived in tribes and pregnancy wisdom was passed down from mother to mother. Not being able to find what I was truly looking for, I realized something was missing in how we go through our pregnancies in this culture, and that sacred mother sisterhood had been buried, not lost, but buried deep in the past and needed to re-surge for all women. Our bodies create babies, and everyone agrees that is a miraculous wonder, but our spirits create souls and we need to know how to handle the process of creating a “whole” person. I truly believe the way to do this is by connecting to ourselves, the process of growing a baby and other wise women.

Cancer is a monster with its own agenda. But my mother fought the good fight until the very end when it just took over December 14, 2007. The following days, weeks and months were a blur. I know I made it to work after the first of the year, cared for my preschooler, and I started volunteering thinking it would help me by helping others. I went through a wonderful training but by the end of it I knew it wasn’t the right fit for me at the time. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to fulfill the duties required of the position.

No matter how you choose to feed your baby, it’s a journey. And one that requires a pretty tough look at where you’ve been, where you are, where you’re going, and then you take a gigantic big breath to ride the ensuing emotions with as much confidence as you can muster. Thanks to gMum, Nilam for telling us her story.
Several months ago my daughter and I decided it was time to wean her from breast milk. I have to say – she didn’t seem to care. But for me, it was a journey that meant something. I jotted down our journey and how I felt. Maybe you went through this too (Please say yes so I can feel like a normal mom).

This picture was posted on our facebook page and it prompted us to say “Awesome!” and then immediately follow up with “Tell us about it!”. And thankfully, she did. Thank you Charlotte for telling us a story.
Two and a half years ago my family moved to Portland, OR away from everything we’d ever known. Away from our extended family, and friends we went to grade school with. I had started using gDiapers just before having my second son only months after the move and followed the company on facebook. When there was an event invite for a gTea at the offices I decided that it would be a good opportunity to meet other moms in the area who were also using the product and meet the fabulous employees who help get the product on my baby’s bum. After all, we were pretty alone in this new place. Within minutes of realizing that I was new to the area and gDiapers itself, Kim asked if I’d met Jaimey. Which of course I hadn’t….yet. She insisted I had to and I was open to making new friends. I needed that.
